After I completed my undergraduate studies at U.C.L.A. in Sociology, I began a career in the financial services industry. After working for a few years, I returned to school and earned a Master’s degree in Career Counseling from California State University Northridge, one of the only institutions conferring such a degree at that time. My thesis was on Dissatisfied Attorneys Seeking Career Change. I am a member of the National Career Development Association.

As a Career Counselor with over 15 years of experience, I have been employed in the outplacement field working with displaced employees from corporations in industries such as aerospace, banking, and manufacturing. I have worked with attorneys on career issues, and facilitated group work through the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). This includes working with couples on relationship issues through interpretation of the MBTI. I work with high school students, college students, and adults in career transition. I especially enjoy helping women empower themselves to reach their goals both in the work place and in their private lives, a balance that is often difficult to find.

I also work at the Santa Monica College’s Career Services Center (CSC), where I oversee the department. The CSC provides one-on-one career counseling, a flourishing internship program and an employment program. In my role, I interact with local organizations such as Merrill Lynch, MTV, Fox Sports, The Clippers, The Kings, Sony, Saint Johns Hospital and Cedars-Sinai.

My goal when working with you is to help you learn more about yourself and the world of work through career assessments and in-depth conversations. I assist you in discovering fields of interest where you can transfer existing skills, or guide you in determining what you will need to transition to a new field. Together we identify your personal and work values so you can make an informed decision about whether a field or position you are exploring will conflict with your values.  I have found conflict of values is a major cause of dissatisfaction in a career. I can also help you metabolize bad work experiences so you can release the angst this has caused, to grow and learn from the challenges this has created.

You have everything you need inside you to make your career decision. I help you unlock the information and work with you to find a new and exciting career path.
